Power Move : Road & Rail Transport

Anderson Heavy Haul and Rigging* – Stand H31
The Energy Infrastructure Project was a large-scale transportation and installation effort to deliver a 700,000-pound transformer from Quebec’s Chaudière-Appalaches region to support increased electricity exchange capacity between Quebec (Canada) and New England (USA). The project underpins the development of 100 km of new 320-kilovolt direct-current electricity lines, enhancing efficient hydropower transmission across borders.
The move was logistically complex due to the size of the transformer, challenging terrain including hilly areas, valleys, rivers, and bridges, as well as strict nighttime transport windows between 9pm and 5am. Planning took approximately nine months and required detailed engineering assessments covering bridge load ratings, overhead clearances, road conditions, and seasonal weather risks.
Transportation was executed using AHHR’s specialized jack-and-slide system and a 12-line double-wide hydraulic trailer. The operation involved around 25 staff, including pilot cars, utility crews, police escorts, mechanics, and safety supervisors. Progress was spread over five nights, with additional measures such as bridge reinforcement and custom ramps required to ensure safe passage.
Safety was paramount throughout the operation. Comprehensive inspections, tie-down protocols, emergency planning, and adherence to speed and weather restrictions ensured compliance with industry standards. Leveraging decades of expertise, AHHR successfully delivered the transformer, demonstrating advanced heavy haul capabilities critical to modern energy infrastructure. Visit website.

Bragg Companies* – Stand M36
Bragg Companies successfully received and transported two 350,000-pound boilers from the manufacturer in Chanute, KS to a refinery in Wilmington, CA. Each transport configuration measured approximately 232 feet in length, 21 feet 11 inches in width, and 21 feet 10 inches in height, with a gross weight of 651,700 pounds. The journey spanned roughly 2,450 routed miles and took nearly 30 travel days per boiler.
Upon arrival, our skilled field team comprising Ironworkers, Operators, and Teamsters, transloaded the boilers onto a Dual 10-Line Goldhofer SPMT using our Lift Systems 400-ton hydraulic gantry. The boilers were then moved onsite and upended using our Lift Systems 650-ton gantry with support from a Liebherr LTM 1400 crane. Once in the upright position, they were reloaded onto the Goldhofer SPMT and transported to the final setting location, where a Liebherr LR 1400 offloaded and placed them onto their designated pads.
With over 75 years of experience, Bragg Companies continues to deliver turnkey solutions for projects of any scale. Visit website.

Mallory Alexander International Logistics* – Stand Q30
A track laying machine and a track renewal train that had a total of 10 railcars needed to be transported from Switzerland to Odenton, Maryland, U.S. The product being transported consisted of railcars that were between 10 and 28 m long and more than 3 m wide. Their height ranged from almost 3 m to more than 4 m, and their weight ranged from almost 19 t to around 84 t per car.
Once in Baltimore, the Mallory Alexander Project Cargo team managed the transportation of the product by truck to Odenton, Maryland. Our team was able to ensure the product’s delivery despite challenges faced along the route. It was a balancing act to meet the interests of all the stakeholders, and the specialized rail equipment is now the first of its kind in the USA. View website.

TRT International* – Stand G20
The Arthur Kill project, executed for Sungrow in Staten Island, NY, involved the same-day delivery of nineteen 97,000-lb battery storage units to a highly constrained site. The stakes were high: every unit had to arrive on schedule, with no room for delay.
One month before launch, our team met with the project manager on-site to walk through the delivery plan in detail. We performed a trial run with an empty truck to test maneuverability, confirm parking options for early arrivals, and fine-tune the schedule to ensure smooth, efficient unloading.
On delivery day, 12 drivers were dispatched, 7 of whom completed two runs each between our facility and the job site — just a 20-minute drive away. Six trucks staged at the site overnight, enabling early morning unloading to begin without delay. With coordinated sequencing, live updates, and constant communication between our team and the site crew, the operation was executed seamlessly.
The result: 19 oversized units delivered safely, precisely, and on time — all in a single day. We proudly nominate this project for Power Move: Road & Rail as a model of teamwork, foresight, and logistical excellence. Visit website.

TRADELOSSA
In support of northern Mexico’s energy infrastructure, Tradelossa successfully completed the transport of a 282-ton power transformer from the Port of Altamira to Apodaca, Nuevo León. Covering more than 900 kilometers in 15 days, the move stands out as one of the most complex and significant heavy-haul operations in the region.
At the heart of the solution was the Faktor 5 girder bridge system, a world-class engineering platform capable of safely handling ultra-heavy cargo across varied terrain. The route included reinforced bridges, mountain crossings, and urban segments—navigated with precision and strict adherence to safety protocols, exclusively during daytime hours.
This operation directly supported the installation of a new electrical substation—critical for expanding the regional grid’s capacity. The infrastructure will help meet growing energy demand across Apodaca and surrounding municipalities, reinforcing energy reliability and resilience in one of Mexico’s most dynamic industrial zones.
Tradelossa’s execution exemplifies the essential role of specialized logistics in advancing national infrastructure and powering future development. Visit website.
