Power Move : Best Use of Equipment

Atlas Heavy* – Stand N41

Atlas Heavy successfully transported two of the largest U.S.-built storage tanks, each weighing over 933,900 lbs, from Oklahoma to California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base. The complex, multi-modal journey involved river, ocean, and land transport, including Panama Canal transit and final delivery and setting without cranes. Custom engineering solutions—such as barge modifications, advanced securement strategies, and dual-wide Goldhofer PSTs—enabled safe passage and precise placement.

The project overcame significant logistical challenges, including terrain navigation and compliance with maritime regulations. Engineering support was present throughout, utilizing FEA, 3D modeling, and load testing to ensure flawless execution. This record-setting operation highlights Atlas Heavy’s innovation, coordination, and expertise, setting a new benchmark in heavy transport and supporting critical infrastructure. It stands as a strong contender for the Project Power 2025 Award. Visit website.

Bragg Companies* – Stand M36

At the Gonzaga Ridge Wind Farm, Bragg Companies is deploying its Goldhofer FTV850 blade transporter, mounted on 7-Lines of THP/SL, pushed by a 6-Line ADDrive, and pulled by a Western Star 6900XD Prime Mover. This configuration is specifically engineered to ensure maximum stability and control while transporting a 244-foot wind blade across challenging terrain.

Once at the WTG pad location, the blade is lifted into position using Bragg’s Liebherr LR 1600 crawler crane, with additional support from a Tadano 160 RT truck crane.

With a proven track record of delivering reliable turnkey solutions, Bragg Companies is equipped to meet the demands of complex projects from start to finish. Visit website.
